Biographical Sketch
Justus Verhagen joined The John B. Pierce Laboratory in January 2007 as an Assistant Fellow. He received his doctorandus degree (equivalent to M.Sc.) in Medical Biology and his Ph.D. in Neuroscience in 2001 in the lab of Dr. Tom Scott. He worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Oxford with Dr. Edmund Rolls and at Boston University with Dr. Matt Wachowiak. Dr. Verhagen's work focuses on neural coding in the chemical senses, and on multimodal flavor integration. He is a member of the Association for Chemoreception Sciences (AChemS) and the Society for Neuroscience (SfN). In 2006 he received the Polak Young Investigator Award for innovative research in chemosensory sciences. Dr. Verhagen also enjoys audioengineering and anything Sci-Fi.
