Biographical Sketch
Nina Stachenfeld joined the John B.Pierce Laboratory as a post-doctoral associate in the laboratory of Ethan R. Nadel, Ph.D. in 1993. The focus of her work in Dr. Nadel's laboratory was examining the effects of aging and physical activity on the fluid and sodium regulation systems. Dr. Stachenfeld joined the scientific staff as a Research Scientist in 1997 and then as an Assistant Fellow in 1999. For the past several years Dr. Stachenfeld's research as focus on the effects of estrogen and progesterone on the fluid regulatory systems in humans. Dr. Stachenfeld has authored/co-authored over 20 publications. She is a member of the American Physiological Society, the American College of Sports Medicine, Public Citizen and The American Civil Liberties Union. Dr. Stachenfeld is a founding member of the Connecticut chapter of the National Green Party.
