RESEARCH ASSISTANT

A full-time position is available as a research assistant in studies of human sensory perception.  The available position, which includes benefits, is funded by a research grant from the National Institutes of Health to study the sensory and perceptual processes that underlie the sense of taste.

Specific duties include preparing and conducting experiments on human taste perception; recruitment of subjects; data collection, organization and statistical analysis; preparation of basic chemical taste solutions; basic laboratory maintenance, and occasional library research. The assistant will be encouraged to become involved in all phases of the research process, from development of experimental design to writing up and publishing the results. 

Applicants must have earned at least a BA or BS degree in psychology, neuroscience, food science, or a related field and have experience using computer-based statistical and graphical packages. Undergraduate or post-baccalaureate research experience is highly desirable, and computer programming skills are a plus. Applicants should have good interpersonal skills and enjoy working with people. A starting date on or near May 1, 2008 is preferable. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
